IT IS I

By Innocencia Mukwepere

I taught you how to pray

To have faith

To yield strength

Yet you stumble

In a slightest rumble

Worrying and crying

Instead of bowing

For grace

You lack divine

And vengeance you sow

Yearning for plenty

I told you to ask

But you always demand

When it delays

You seek the sorcery’s help

Is patience that hard to cope

I taught you how to love

To bring peace

To end hatred

But your are deaf

Its been decades

Yet still selfish

Even loyalty is a difficult task

My children

Infidelity is now your virtue

Staining sacred bonds

Caring less about my will

Juggling the gifts of life

Without conscious

Running a wrecked race

Only for the trophy

Full of treachery

I taught you how to read

To learn from the scriptures

To practice its course

Rather you chose the world

Ignoring me calling

Saying I don’t exist

Not even a second to know me

For how long will you remain stubborn

You stand in confidence

Claiming my soil as your own

Forgetting you are just guests

Waiting to depart

In different routes

To answer before me

Regarding the deeds

You did under my watch

I taught you how to expect my arrival

To be alert

Calm not tensed

Even if it is an anonymous day

I gave you time

To repent and cease evil

That I spare you my destruction

For I am merciful

It is I, thus says the lord

  1. You have just analysed everything happening to this generation ..one who could start reading it could feel like its from a lover and if you go towards the middle one could think its from a mother to her children but further we know who is talking ...I Love the arrangement and also to add the art thats completely us right now or in the future in the presence of the Lord ...I love it,👏👏
